February’s Ride of the Month is all about preparation, endurance, and climbing strength. With a few local riders heading over to take on the 3 Peaks Ride, this route has been designed to help build confidence and fitness for a big day in the saddle.
At 196 kilometres, this is a long and demanding ride that links together some of the Fleurieu Peninsula’s toughest climbs. The route includes Crows Nest, Springmount, Carrickalinga, Willunga Hill, Flagstaff Hill, Crows Nest again, and Nettle. It is a proper challenge and a great test for riders training for long distance events or looking to push their limits locally.
This ride is best suited to experienced riders who are comfortable with long distances and sustained climbing. It is not about speed, but about pacing, preparation, and learning how your body responds over a full day on the bike. Riding this route is a solid way to prepare both physically and mentally for events like 3 Peaks.
To finish the ride, we recommend heading to Nino Victor Harbor for a well earned coffee or lunch. It is the perfect place to refuel, recover, and swap stories after a big day out on the road.
If you are training for 3 Peaks or simply looking for a serious challenge, make sure you tag your ride with #BVHRideOfTheMonth so we can follow your progress and cheer you on.
