Ride of the Month: Goolwa Riverside Explorer 🚴‍♂️

This month's Ride of the Month takes you to Goolwa for a relaxing ride that combines riverside views, quiet streets, and scenic waterfronts. The Goolwa Riverside Explorer is a great ride for anyone looking to enjoy a peaceful day on the bike while exploring one of the Fleurieu Peninsula's most iconic towns.

The ride starts at the Goolwa Wharf, right next to the Cockle Train Station. From there, you'll cross the bridge using the shared path, safely avoiding the main road before joining Tolarno Drive.

The route then continues through Hindmarsh Island, crossing Randell Road before following Captain Sturt Road onto Captain Sturt Parade. As you make your way along the waterfront, you'll eventually join Baston Parade before turning onto Monument Road and then Valmai Terrace, leading you to the boat ramp.

Take a moment here to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and watch the boats coming and going before turning around and retracing your ride back into Goolwa.

Once back in town, the ride joins the Encounter Bikeway, following the river toward the Goolwa North Boat Ramp for the final section of the route. This stretch offers beautiful views across the Murray River and is the perfect way to finish the ride before returning to the Goolwa Wharf.

This route is ideal for riders looking for a relaxed day out, with a mix of riverside scenery, quiet roads, and dedicated bike paths. It is suitable for both standard bikes and e-bikes, making it an enjoyable ride for riders of all experience levels.

After your ride, we recommend stopping at Motherduck. Located right on the Goolwa Wharf, it is the perfect place to enjoy a well earned coffee, breakfast, or lunch while taking in the waterfront views and watching the historic Cockle Train roll past.
