October’s Ride of the Month takes us over to Hindmarsh Island for a short and scenic ride with some beautiful views across the river and Coorong.
Starting at Sugar Beach, the route heads around Hindmarsh Island toward Mundoo Channel, taking in plenty of open scenery and waterside views along the way.
At around 10 kilometres, this is one of our shorter Ride of the Month routes. The terrain is nice and flat, making it a great option for anyone looking for an easy ride without committing to a big day in the saddle.
The route does follow roads without a dedicated footpath or bike path, so it is best suited to riders who are comfortable riding on the road and sharing it with other traffic.
There are plenty of places along the route where you can stop, take a photo, and enjoy the views across the river and Coorong. Take your time with this one. The short distance means there is no need to rush.
Another highlight is the opportunity to take a short walk out toward the Murray Mouth. Bring a bike lock, park the bikes up, and spend a little time exploring on foot before continuing the ride.
For food, our recommendation this month is the Coorong Cafe. It is a great place to stop, grab something to eat, and enjoy the surroundings while you are out exploring Hindmarsh Island.
The route eventually loops back toward Sugar Beach to finish where you started.
This month’s ride is all about keeping things simple. A flat 10 kilometre route, plenty of water views, a walk to the Murray Mouth, and a good food stop along the way make this a great excuse to spend a few hours exploring a diferent part of our backyard.
If you give the Sugar Beach to Mundoo Channel Cruise a go, tag your photos with #BVHRideOfTheMonth so we can see your ride and your favourite stops along the way.
