Maxxis Assegai 29" Tyre

The Maxxis Assegai is a high-traction, aggressive tyre designed in collaboration with World Cup champion Greg Minnaar. Optimized for demanding trail and enduro conditions, it delivers exceptional grip, stability, and durability—whether used as a front tyre, rear, or both for ultimate control.

Key Advantages

• Unmatched Grip:
Tall shoulder and centre knobs offer consistent traction around corners, over wet roots, and on rough terrain.
• Balanced Tread Design:
Combines ramped centre blocks with added intermediate lugs for both rapid acceleration and reliable braking performance.
• Robust Construction:
Offers 60 TPI casing options (EXO, EXO+, DoubleDown, or DH), reinforced sidewalls, and tubeless-ready beads for tailored durability and downhill resilience.
• Signature Compounds:
Available in 3C MaxxTerra, 3C MaxxGrip, and Dual Compound setups—catering to both speed and traction preferences.

Performance Insights

• Cornering Confidence:
Reviewers rate it 10/10 for cornering—offering "bite to brake and power through corners" with minimal slipping.
• Stability on Rough Terrain:
Handles rocky, steep sections with composure—the side knobs maintain grip and resist deformation under load.
• Rolling Trade-Off:
Designed for grip first; riders note it rolls slower than XC tyres. Ideal for aggressive conditions rather than racing.

Best Use Cases

• Gravity-Driven Riding:
Excellent as a rear tyre in aggressive trail or downhill setups—especially when paired with lighter front tyres.
• All-Condition Front Choice:
Delivers confidence and grip in wet, loose, or technical terrain when used as a front-specific setup.
• e‑MTB Ready:
DoubleDown casings and durable compounds stand up to high torque and heavy loads.

Summary

The Maxxis Assegai is a top-tier, gravity-inspired tyre that blends aggressive tread design with robust casing options and market-leading grip. While its weight and rolling resistance lean toward slower setups, its cornering confidence and durability make it a standout choice for trail, enduro, and downhill riders who demand control in all conditions.
